Biography

Md. Ziaur Rahman (b. 1987: Chadpur District, Matlob North) is a Bangladeshi artist celebrated for his vibrant and evocative depictions of motion and nature. Based in Narayanganj, he draws inspiration from the dynamic interplay of objects and animals in motion, using them as metaphors for strength, vitality, and resilience. Rahman holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Development Alternative (UODA) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting from the Narayanganj Fine Art Institute. Over the years, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the Bangladeshi art scene through his participation in numerous exhibitions, workshops, and art camps both locally and internationally.

His solo exhibitions reflect his creative journey and philosophy. His debut exhibition, Nirobodhi (2009), showcased his initial exploration of artistic themes, while his latest exhibition, Inner Speed (2024), at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, delved into the concept of speed as a symbol of life's dynamism and energy. Rahman has participated in major group exhibitions across Bangladesh, India, and Japan, including the 24th National Art Exhibition and the 22nd Young Artist Art Exhibition at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He has also represented his country at international events such as the Shinkyoko Art Contest in Japan and Indo-Bangladesh Art Exhibitions in India.

His works are recognized for their bold use of color, particularly red and black, which evoke intense emotions and create a sense of visual dynamism. His artistic achievements have been honored with several awards, including the 2020 Award at the 1st National Online Watercolor Exhibition (IWS Bangladesh) and the Honorable Prize at the 6th Shinkyoko Art Contest in Japan.

In addition to creating art, Rahman actively engages with the artistic community as an organizer and participant in workshops and art camps. His works are held in prestigious collections, including the Bangladesh Bank, Gloria Foundation (Japan), and private collections in the USA, Dubai, Germany, Italy, and India.

Currently working as a freelance artist and art organizer, Rahman operates from his studio in Narayanganj, where he continues to explore new dimensions of artistic expression.
